A case for gender diversity

Why women entrepreneurs?

Numerous studies showcase the benefits of gender diversity in the entrepreneurial world:

-- Boost in company reputation

-- Profitability increases by 63%

-- Talent attraction and retainment improves by 60%

-- Consumer interest and demand increase by 38%

A McKinsey Global Institute report finds that women’s equality can add $12 trillion to global growth.

The World Economic Forum supports McKinsey's findings, highlighting that economic upside represents approximately 26% of the projected global GDP, a sum larger than the current size of the U.S. economy.

Current state

Promoting gender equity in startups

Research by Boston Consulting Group reveals that

-- 10% of European start-ups are founded by women

-- Around 7% carried out fundraising campaigns

-- Only 2% of funds were raised

In Norway, Innovation Norway and NRK state that

-- 1 of 5 entrepreneurs is a woman

-- 0.7% of capital investments go to female founders

In addition, Bergen has welcomed over 2,000 Ukrainian refugees so far

-- The majority of these refugees are women

-- Nearly 60% have completed higher education

-- 4 in 5 refugees living in Bergen are unemployed

Women founders in Bergen need a platform to successfully launch their businesses. Some require the right support for establishing and growing their ventures, while others must also overcome language barriers.
